Well Jack and Runty has been two years in development now and it has been a steep learning curve in understanding the business behind cartoon branding such as marketing, licensing and working with agents. I can now confirm that Jack and Runty newspaper strips will be released in Indian newspapers this coming August.
I am also hoping to sign with a very notable press agency and hopefully Jack and Runty will be released globally in territories such as Asia, South America and South East Asia. I am also working with another agent in Spain and am hoping to secure some Spanish Newspapers. Sadly for the US the state of the newspaper industry it looks unlikely that I shall be concentrating on traditional print media in the US and rather will be promoting Jack and Runty using Twitter, Facebook and other online Social Media. Print Media is eroding in the US and the UK but it is expanding in countries like India, China and South America and that is where we will be concentrating our efforts on.
On the animation side of Jack and Runty "The Runty Show" has been presented to networks such as Cartoon Network, CBBC and Disney etc. Feedback was positive and it looks like as soon as exposure is generated through traditional print media and online they will view it as an acquisition further down the line. It was a real achievement in getting the attention of Acquisitions Directors of these networks and it was nice to read the good network notes and after two years finally feel as if it is moving in the right direction.
